Meet the Ventura Team Behind Marsh Water Damage Ventura

Most restoration companies send a truck and a name you’ve never heard. We send a text before the truck rolls, with a name, a photo, and a badge number. That’s the Threshold Verified protocol, and it’s been how we operate in Ventura since 2005. Our crew works the whole city: midtown condos off Main Street, beachside homes near the pier, hillside properties in Ondulando and east Ventura where water finds its way downhill faster than you’d think. We’re a small crew by design. Every person below has walked your neighborhoods, and every one of them will hand you a written price before touching a tool.

Our People

Tobias Reyner, Owner

Tobias founded Marsh Water Damage Ventura in 2005 and still walks the first assessment on most jobs. He started in commercial drying, moved into residential, and has spent twenty years watching the same three mistakes repeat across the industry: prices that balloon after demo starts, crews that can’t be identified, and promises that evaporate when the check clears. So he built the opposite. The 365-Day Done Right Promise is his doing, printed on every work order and backed by a free second visit if the repair fails. Tobias answers the phone when he’s not in a crawlspace, and he’d rather tell you a job is simple than sell you one that isn’t. His phrase for a bad drying job: “Drywall doesn’t lie, but wet drywall tells you everything.”

Tobias holds IICRC certifications in water damage restoration and applied structural drying, and he’s the one who signs off on every Ventura job before we call it finished. His wife and two kids live in midtown, and he can usually be found Sunday mornings at the Ventura Harbor farmer’s market with a coffee and no phone.

Marcus D., Lead Technician

Marcus has been with Marsh for eleven years and runs the majority of our water extraction and structural drying jobs. He’s the guy you want when a supply line bursts at 2 a.m. and you’re standing in an inch of water with a mop. Marcus handles the heavy equipment: commercial dehumidifiers from Dri-Eaz and Phoenix, air movers from XPOWER, and Injectidry systems for wall cavities and under-cabinet drying. His specialty is psychrometric readings (measuring the moisture in the air and in the wall materials) to confirm a structure is genuinely dry, not just dry to the touch. That’s the difference between a job that lasts a year and a job that lasts a decade.

Marcus is IICRC-certified in water damage restoration and RIA-certified in mold remediation. Outside work, he restores old cars, which is a fitting hobby for a man who spends his days pulling water out of things that used to work.

Rosa J., Senior Mold Remediation Specialist

Rosa joined the crew seven years ago after working in environmental testing, and she’s the person we send when a homeowner finds something dark in the corner of a bathroom or smells that musty note under the kitchen sink. She runs our containment setups and air filtration, handles full remediation jobs from initial assessment to post-remediation clearance, and has a habit of explaining the science simply. When she tells you why a bathroom fan rated for 50 CFM isn’t pulling enough air for a Ventura winter’s humidity, she’s not showing off. She’s making sure you understand what caused the problem so you don’t watch it come back.

Rosa has IICRC and RIA mold remediation credentials and an IFA certification in applied microbial remediation. She’s originally from Oxnard and still claims the best tri-tip in the county comes from a food truck on the harbor. She’s not wrong.

Sam T., Service Coordinator and Apprentice Technician

Sam is the voice you’ll hear first on most calls, and he’s been with us four years. He handles scheduling, insurance documentation, and the photo-documented assessments we send to adjusters, which means he’s the person making sure your claim doesn’t stall because someone forgot a timestamp. Sam is also in the field two days a week as an apprentice technician, working under Marcus on extraction and drying setups, learning the equipment and the craft. He knows the equipment room better than anyone, which makes him the one who spots when a dehumidifier is running at 90% efficiency instead of 100%.

He’s working toward his IICRC water restoration certification, and his brain works like a dispatcher with a map of Ventura always open. When he says we can be somewhere in forty minutes, he’s accounting for afternoon traffic on the 101 and the light at Main and Mills.

One Standard, Every Job

The Threshold Standard applies to every visit, from a routine inspection to a sewage backup at midnight. It has five parts: a Threshold Verified technician is background-checked, identity-verified, uniformed, photo-badged, and sent to the customer by name and photo before arrival. No exceptions, and no “well, it was a busy day” excuses. That’s the floor. Above it, every crew member is credentialed through IICRC, RIA, or IFA, and the equipment is industry-standard from Dri-Eaz, Phoenix, XPOWER, B-Air, and Injectidry. A written price comes before any work starts. A written guarantee comes with every repair. And if the repair isn’t right within 365 days, we return for a second visit and we make it right, free of charge. Tobias still personally reviews every guarantee claim, which is probably why he’s not at the farmer’s market every Sunday. The numbers matter less than the names. We’re a team of four people who live here, work here, and stand behind what we sign.
